Tont Trasport Contemporary American Painter
Paul Noble James Plein Air Painter
Perhaps feeling a bit nostalgic for his western Pennsylvania roots, artist Anthony J. Trasport's new exhibit titled "Ledgers, Legends and Landscapes," revisits the Three Rivers area that still after all these years he affectionately calls "home".

Trasport's style is admittedly eclectic ranging from traditional to abstract. The artist, who has resided in California for over thirty years, has returned to Pittsburgh several times during the past ten years during different seasons to recapture the look and feel of Allegheny and Beaver Counties.

Choosing from the rich history of the area was admittedly difficult for trasport when selecting subjects for his paintings. The terrain, the historical buildings, the local legends, the enthusiasm for their sports teams all left an impression, but eventually Trasport decided to paint the legends and landscape that he felt a special connection with.

Trasport was born in Pittsburgh in 1938 and raised in nearby Aliquippa. After a brief stint in the steel factories, Trasport decided to further his artistic talents at the Cleveland Art Institute. He was away at college when Mazeroski's World Series winning home run sailed over the left field wall at Forbes Field. He shares his memories of that historic event in the painting titled, "Beat 'Em Bucs!"

Collectively, the canvasses overflow with a feeling of western Pennsylvania like a cauldron dripping molten steel. Without a doubt " Ledgers, Legends, & Landscapes," is Trasport's love letter to the people and places of his youth.
