EDITION GICLÉES ON CANVAS Galleries and fine art dealers all over the world are realizing the benefits of carrying limited edition giclées in their mix of artwork. Giclées on canvas are a high quality, affordable alternative to original works and like other limited edition graphics tend to increase in value over time. TRIUMPHANT CRAFTSMANSHIP Eclectic Editions are created one at a time, by Triumphant craftsmen who are considered among the best in the field of fine art printmaking. For over 25 years Triumphant Printmakers have built a reputation for quality by mastering the properties and behavior of color and light. There are simply no compromises and shortcuts when it comes to delivering giclées as rich, balanced and true as the original. Giclée is a French term for "spray" or "squirt" and is pronounced "jhee-clay". Like tiny airbrushes this nearly continuous-tone process involves the spraying of microscopic droplets of ink, the size of red blood cells, onto the canvas. Each canvas print is produced, one at a time, with a significant amount of hard work, customized methodology and careful attention. The giclée process creates images with no discernable dots or screens and provides extreme detail in the highlights, midtones and shadows. Eclectic Editions are printed directly onto the surface of 100% cotton canvas. The inks used are unique, multi-density, lightfast and extremely stable. They capture more of the color gamut, hold tremendously tight tolerances and provide supreme archivability. When the printing process is completed each work of art and is hand embellished and signed in paint by the artist. Editions are limited to ten artist proofs and 250 signed and numbered prints. When the artist's work is finished canvases are hand stretched onto museum-quality stretcher frames that are manufactured from only high-quality clear pine with soft, rolled edges. They're finger-jointed every 8" to 10" to keep from warping and because only expandable corner stretcher frames are used they will not need to be restretched over the life of the print. ARCHIVAL FINISHES Once stretched, canvases are protected with sophisticated, museum-quality varnishes, applied in multiple layers by hand brushing only. Specific varnishes and techniques were created through close collaboration with some of the world's foremost varnish experts. An initial isolation layer of varnish will not cross-link chemically with the pigments in the ink. These sophisticated varnish techniques add to the lightfastness, archivablility and permanence of the print. Canvas giclée prints protected with proprietary hand-brushed varnishes will last for up 150 years. Special UV light inhibitors are built into inks and varnishes. Giclées are among the longest lasting prints available in the world. ![]() CERTIFICATE OF PROVENANCE Every print in the edition is delivered with a certificate signed by the publisher and printmaker certifying it as approved for workmanship, size and number of the edition and authenticity. |
